    RELEASES

In an effort to strengthen the relations of fraternity, friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire and the Republic of Liberia, the seventh session of the joint Ivoirian-Liberian cooperation commission was held on May 16 and 17, 2024, in Abidjan.

The Ivorian delegation was led by His Excellency Mr. Leon Kacou Adom, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African integration and Ivoirians abroad and the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, and the Liberian delegation was led by Her Excellency Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia.

On March 7 and 8, 2024, H.E. Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti was granted an audience with His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire. She conveyed a message of friendship and expressed gratitude to him on behalf of His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, for the cordial and warm welcome he and his delegation received on the occasion of his working and friendship visit to Cote d’Ivoire.

On the sidelines of the work of the seventh session of the Ivoirian-Liberian joint commission, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti had a meeting with her Ivoirian counterpart, Mr. Kaou ADOM during which they received bilateral, sub-regional and international issues.

At the bilateral level, the two Ministers hailed the good quality of the relations of friendship and cooperation between Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia and reaffirmed their shared desire to work toward re-enforcing them for the wellbeing of their peoples.

On the occasion of the official visit of the Liberian President on March 7, 2024, the two heads of delegation specifically reaffirmed their commitment to promptly implement the necessary measures to revitalize the Mano River Union (M.R.U.) in order to re-enforce economic integration, in accordance with the directives given by their respective heads of state.

In this regard, they tasked their respective delegations with finding new areas of cooperation, actions and projects to be undertaken in areas of shared interest, and urging the private sector communities in both nations to undertake prospecting missions to take advantage of the opportunities presented by each nation.

The two Ministers expressed their interest in developing Ivoirian-Liberian cooperation in the areas of Diplomacy, Security, Education, Technical Education and Vocational Training, infrastructure, Agriculture, Trade, Youth Development, production, Transport and Marketing of Energy as well as Cross-Border Cooperation.

The two Foreign ministers commended the high esteem and deep mutual respect that their Excellencies Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, and Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. President of the Republic of Liberia, share towards each other.

The two heads of delegation at the sub-regional level conveyed their worries on the resurgence of terrorist attacks, namely in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. They vehemently denounced these violent crimes, which sabotage all development initiatives and cause anguish and suffering for the populace.

On a global scale, the heads of delegation from Ivory Coast and Liberia deliberated over the many crisis situations worldwide and urged the UN’s decision-making authorities to promptly take action to effectively and peacefully resolve these issues.

Following the completion of the seventh session of the Ivoirian-Liberian joint commission, the two ministers signed six (6) agreements for collaboration in the aforementioned fields, therefore expressing their gratitude and fostering the growth of bilateral cooperation.

Following this seventh session, they also suggested that the various decisions and suggestions be implemented effectively.
The Ministers praised the pleasant and cooperative atmosphere that pervaded this session’s work.

They decided that the eighth meeting of the Ivoirian-Liberian Joint Commission will take place in Liberia at a later date to be decided upon diplomatically.
