As Morocco Commences Renovation Work On Sixth Floor of Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Monrovia, Release – Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., Minister of Foreign Affairs, has reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to enhancing ties with the kingdom of Morocco in the interest of its people and to promote African collaboration. On February 1, 2023, a Liberian construction company was introduced to the Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by a two-person Moroccan technical team. The two countries will collaborate on renovating the ministry’s sixth floor. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room on the fourth floor hosted the gathering.

Mr. Baiz Mohameh Hicham, Advisor to the Director General of the Morocco Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), and Mr. Belasri Abdelaziz, Engineer from GETB Engineering Company, make up the two-person delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco. Earlier, Minister Kemayah welcomed the Technical Team from the Kingdom of Morocco to Liberia on behalf of Mr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia, stressing that President Weah treasures the harmonious coexistence and long-standing connections with the Kingdom of Morocco.

He informed the Moroccan delegation that during President Weah’s State of the Nation Address to the National Legislature, President Weah mentioned the renovation of the Sixth Floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a commitment from the Government and People of the Kingdom of Morocco, noting that Liberia looks forward to further strengthening ties with the Kingdom of Morocco in other areas of economic partnership.

Amb. Kemayah informed the Delegation that their presence in Liberia signifies the strong ties and corporation existing between the two countries and added that Liberia looks forward to more technical assistance from her Moroccan counterpart. Minister Kemayah used the occasion to reemphasize the commitment from his counterpart H.E. Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco.

The rehabilitation work, according to Minister Kemayah, would further boost the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Liberia’s ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation.

The head of the technical team from the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Hicham, assured Minister Kemayah in a brief statement that he would work to see that the renovation work meet the minister’s expectations and that he would collaborate with a Liberian construction company, the MDMC, led by its general manager, Mr. John S. Youboty, to complete the renovation work on the sixth floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in time for the benefit of both parties. He added that the group would also paint the building’s outside from the first to the sixth floors.

Mr. Hicham recalled that Liberia and the Kingdom of Morocco had participated in several technical discussions, and he said that both nations should now start looking for new areas of collaboration.
