Monrovia, Liberia – In the wake of Charlie Musu’s death, three people, including former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott, were given life sentences. Judge Roosevelt Willie stated during the final judgement and sentencing hearing that all the facts led to Counsel Scott and three other family members based on the information provided and the circumstances surrounding Charloe Musu’s death.
Before imposing the life sentence, Judge Willie considered the testimony of thirty (30) witnesses who testified during the murder trial, as well as the facts presented in court, legal citations from both sides, and the Supreme Court’s ruling, all of which were included in a thirty-page document.
After the sentencing of former Chief Justice Scott, one of the co-defendants, Cllr. Scott’s lead lawyer, Cllr. Jimmy Saah Bombo, told judicial reporters that they had announced an appeal with the Supreme Court within the statutory period.
Cllr. Bombo further noted that they produced all of the evidence to set their clients free, noting that the prosecution failed to produce the intent of murder to hand down a guilty verdict.
Alhaji Swaiho Seysay, the county attorney for Montserrado County, stated that all of the evidence presented during the late Charloe Musu’s murder trial led to the four defendants.
According to Cllr. Seysay, the four defendants killed Charlotte Musu with hatred and criminal intent, acting with willfulness, purpose, and intentionality.
