Monrovia, Liberia – In his vision for development to change Thinker’s Village Block-D Community, former Grand Gedeh County Superintendent Christopher Beh Bailey has defined voluntarism as the hallmark of community service. Jones-Treasure and Madam Myre Johnson- Financial Secretary. Addressing Community members, Chairman Bailey outlined his vision for the community, emphasizing unity, voluntarism, and collective action as cornerstones of effective leadership.
“The hallmark of such an organization is voluntarism, the willingness of each individual comprising such an organization to render services in the interest and betterment of the community without thinking of receiving a salary or pecuniary benefits,” he said, reflecting on the significance of selfless service and emphasizing the fundamental principle of voluntarism. He maintained that true leadership requires a commitment to serving others without the expectation of personal gain.
The newly elected chairman acknowledged the challenges inherent in community leadership but called for a shared passion among residents to uplift the community through mutual support, thus urging every resident to embrace their role as active contributors to Block D’s growth, stressing the importance of passion and collective effort.
He outlined both immediate and long-term action plans that addressed Block D’s goals as part of his strategic plan. The construction of a leisure facility with the goal of offering secure areas for kids and families was another crucial priority. “We will negotiate with landowners for the development of this hub, which will enrich our community’s recreational opportunities,” Bailey stated.
“If we want to succeed and make our block, our community, a model that is to be envied and emulated, then collective actions should and must be our goal in all our endeavors,” the Chairman stated.
Additionally, he pledged to collaborate with regional and global groups to expand publicity, from aiding orphans to empowering single moms via skill-building.
