Monrovia, Liberia – Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has complimented Liberia on its formal response to the African Union’s Committee of Ten (C-10) Report on United Nations Security Council Reform, which was given by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the president of Sierra Leone, led the C-10 as it delivered its report during the 38th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa. In promoting Africa’s unified stance on UN Security Council reform, President Sirleaf commended Liberia’s resolute posture and diplomatic efforts.
Former President Sirleaf made the remark in response to Minister Beysolow Nyanti’s remarks, which emphasized Liberia’s longtime commitment to multilateralism and its commitment to strengthening Africa’s voice in international decision-making.
Minister Beysolow Nyanti called for ongoing unity among AU member states and emphasized the significance of Africa speaking with a single voice on this crucial issue.
As Liberia’s support for a more just and equitable global governance system increases the continent’s demand, the former president of Liberia advised that Africa must continue to be steadfast in its efforts to get permanent representation in the Security Council. She congratulated the Foreign Affairs Minister for the hard work and dedication to Liberia.
Liberia’s answer at the AU Summit strengthens its leadership in international diplomacy, peace, and security and is consistent with its larger attempts to obtain a non-permanent seat on the Security Council.
As stated in the Sirte Declaration and the Ezulwini Consensus, the nation is still dedicated to collaborating with regional and global partners to further the AU’s shared stance.
