Monrovia, Liberia – FrontPageAfrica’s News Desk Chief, Lennart Dodoo, has officially filed a complaint to Inspector General of Police Col. Patrick Sudue regarding a direct threat made on Facebook against his life and career. Dodoo describes the alarming event involving a person known as Teika Kpakolo (Kelvin) in a letter to Inspector General Sudue. Dodoo claimed that on November 13, Kpakolo sent a menacing remark on Facebook about him.
According to a publication by FPA, the paper quoted one of the posts as follows: “Lennart Dodoo, so you market your integrity for small money that Brother Fallah gave you, if anything happens in our county. Take my statement to the bank. We are going to come after you.”
Dodoo sees this letter as an obvious danger to his personal security as well as his journalistic career. Though threats of violence and intimidation are not acceptable in a democratic country that cherishes freedom of expression and the press, he admitted that criticism is expected in his line of work.
The News Outlite continued, saying that although Dodoo had previously received threats from political supporters, he expressed in his letter that this particular incident is not unique and that Kpakolo’s explicit message has raised his concerns to the point where he is now seeking the assistance of the Liberia National Police.
In order to protect his family’s safety as well as his own, the journalist called for a comprehensive inquiry into the situation and urged the authorities to act appropriately. He underlined how critical it is to resolve this matter quickly in order to avoid a recurrence of the situation, especially in light of the current election campaign, the FPA reports.
Dodoo stated that he would be happy to assist with any inquiry in any way and to offer more details if needed, in an article of the FPA.
