Margibi County – The Liberian traffic nightmare was experienced by the Ghanaian President who is visiting the country for Liberia’s 176th independence celebration. President Akufo Addo was caught in erratic traffic on his route from the Roberts International Airport.

Prior to Liberia’s 176th Independence Day celebrations, the Ghanaian President arrived in the country on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
The absence of traffic police to control the flow of traffic reportedly caused Mr. Nana Akufo Addo’s motorcade to become stalled at the Boys Town Junction for about fifteen minutes in the presence of the vice president of Liberia Madam Jewel Howard Taylor.

At the ELWA Junction, where numerous vehicles also self-directed in the backed-up traffic, the convoy of the Ghanaian President was also delayed.
A similar uncomfortable circumstance befell President George Weah twice as well, but this is the first time in recent history that a visiting president has gone through something comparable.
Although Liberia is commemorating 176 years of independence, the country still has issues with road connectivity, which frequently results in intolerable traffic congestion.
According to reports, despite the poor condition of the country’s roads, the legislature established a law allowing them to use the third lane if there is traffic, which most drivers reportedly take advantage of.
