IN BOMI AND GRAND CAPE MOUNT COUNTIES
Cape Mount, Bomi – Turkish DIYANET Foundation and the Liberian government today, July 3, 2023, dedicated three solar-powered water supply hubs in the counties of Bomi and Grand Cape Mount through the office of the Religious Advisor to President George Manneh Weah on Islamic Affairs.
Ousman T. Jalloh, the Religious Advisor on Islamic Affairs at the Executive Mansion, spoke on behalf of the Liberian government and stated that the Weah administration’s strategy for ensuring that the people of Liberia have access to clean drinking water is to offer quality water supplies to communities around the country.
He states that the Turkish DIYANET Foundation is funding the project and that each of the new water facilities will serve each of Liberia’s 15 counties.
Those who have long struggled to get access to safe and clean drinking water will find comfort in the sophisticated water treatment facility. Jalloh emphasized that the water project serves everyone residing in the two counties, regardless of their religious connections, and not just the Muslim population.
On behalf of President George Weah and the government, Advisor Jalloh thanked the Turkey DIYANET Foundation for their assistance to the Liberians.
Remarking, Turkey DIYANET Foundation Supervisor Burak Ince expressed joy for the water powerhouse. According to him, it is the way of the foundation support to the Liberian people.
Ince remarked that because of the bond between the peoples of Turkey and Liberia, both nations constantly need to assist one another. He urged the recipients to maintain the water supply systems.
All three villages’ representatives expressed gratitude to the Liberian government and Turkey DIYANET Foundation for their assistance. They promise to support the re-election of President George Weah and give special prayers for the people of Turkey.
The Senji ECOWAS Community in Grand Cape Mount County, which is home to over 3,500 people from adjacent Sierra Leone and Liberia, is one of the communities that profited from the water powerhouse. Over 3,000 people live in Gbah Foboi Community in Grand Cape Mount County also benefited, and 2,500 people living in Marlena Town, Bomi County also got a powerhouse water unit.
Although they were pleased with the water system, the locals voiced their dissatisfaction with the lack of healthcare facilities and adequate educational facilities. They called on the Liberian government and Turkey DIYANET Foundation for help.
