GoL Files Law Suit Against Green Park Management

Monrovia, Liberia – Green Park Management has being sued by the Liberian government through the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs. Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah stated that the lawsuit aims to reclaim all public parks and stop Green Park Management from carrying on with its business.

At the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) news briefing in Monrovia on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Minister Piah stated that the government’s decision is based on the General Auditing Commission’s (GAC) findings.

According to the GAC audit report, Green Park Management was founded on August 23, 2023, and got a 20-year contract on September 1, 2023, just nine days later. Minister Piah stated that this is against proper financial standards.According to the General Auditing Commission’s conclusions, the Liberian government should take back the parks.

According to Piah, all presidential programs nationwide are funded by the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, which is the government’s conduit for funding these initiatives.

He listed the following as government-sponsored initiatives: West Point Sports Park, Unification Sports Park, Survival Sports Park, Invincible Sports Park, and New Kru Town Sports Park.
However, these parks are presently run by a private organization and were built under former Liberian President George Weah’s government.
