According to the Commission,  their objectives of the decentralization awareness with high schools students is to enlighten the students on the issue of decentralization and governance, explain the different forms and dimensions of decentralization, the key provision of the Local Governance Act of 2018  among others.

Speaking to the Montserrado high school students on their awareness campaign held at the Bella Casa Hotel in Monrovia on Thursday, December 09, 2022.  The Commissioner of the Liberia Governance Commission, Mr. George Weah Howe Jr. noted that Article 5 of the 1986 constitution of Liberia mandated the Legislature to enact laws promotion, national unification, and the encouragement of all citizens to participate in government and benefit from the social, economic and political development of the country.

He said the LGA-2018 affirms the commitment of the government to further the unity of the Republic by providing equal opportunity for all of its citizens to engage in the governance of the state through the devolution of certain administrative, fiscal and political power from the institutions of the national government to local government. ” The Governance Commission has been conducting decentralization awareness campaigns and training for civil society organizations (CSOs), local government officials Women and Youth group in the country”, Commissioner  Howe stated.
