Government Deletes 400 Plus Ghost Names From Payroll

Monrovia, Liberia – The Civil Service Agency of Liberia has revealed that it has blocked over four hundred and twelve (412) ghost names from government payroll saving the government a little over 1-million united states dollars.

Speaking on Wednesday, May 22,2024, at the Ministry of information Cultural Affairs and Tourism, special press briefing in Monrovia, the CSA Director-General said, the four hundred and twelve (412) ghost names was verified by the entity technical team.

According to DG Josiah F. Joekai, one goal of the study was to independently confirm the identities of ghost employees. He claimed that the research demonstrates that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was responsible for 28 ghost workers, the Liberia National Police 98, Liberia Land Authority 41,  Civil Service Agency 57, NCCRM 24, Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs 10, the Ministry of Mines and Energy and others still going through the finalizing stage.

Remittances, however, have been deposited into government accounts, according to the CSA Director-General.

At the same time, Josiah Joekai reiterated his support for the CSA’s reform program.
