Grand Motif Calls on President Boakai to appoint 30% Muslims in Senior Positions in UP Gov’t

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Grand Motif of Liberia has call on President Joseph Boakai to appoint 30 percent of Muslims in senior positions in the new Unity Party Government, headed by President Boakai.

Sheik Abubakar Sumaworo stated that while Muslims make up roughly thirty percent of the country’s population, there are equally qualified and educated members of the Muslim community who are willing to serve the country.

The request was made by Sheik Sumaworo on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Gurley Street Mosque in Monrovia during his sermon commemorating the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan in Liberia. It is noteworthy that the Muslim community in Liberia is expanding at a rapid pace.

In order to close the achievement gap between boys and girls in the classroom, Sheik Sumaworo also encouraged the Muslim community to take women’s and girls’ education seriously. He added that when women and girls are educated, they will contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Liberia.
