Guineaman Arrested With Cocaine Worth Over US$100k.

Monrovia, Liberia – A 44-year-old Guinea national named David Dioumessy has been apprehended by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) at Bio Waterside in Grand Cape Mount County with cocaine valued at over $100,000 USD.

Atty. Anthony Souh, the Director General of the LDEA, stated Friday, February 14, 2025, at the LDEA Headquarters in Monrovia, that LDEA personnel assigned to Bio Waterside had detained suspect Dioumessy on February 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

He claimed that the suspect was taken into custody with an ECOWAS passport for Guinea, number 001070389, and a bag containing 2.34 kg of drugs worth 126,846.00 (US$24,734,970) on the black market.

Additionally, Atty. Souh informed reporters that suspect Dioumessy was taken under custody while trying to flee the warehouse to avoid being checked by LEAD investigators.

The LEAD head said, the suspect is still being held while an inquiry is conducted. As the LDEA works to eradicate drug usage in Liberia, he gave the public assurances about the agency’s dedication to combating drug trafficking, substance misuse, and drug-related crimes.

Speaking with the suspect, he acknowledged having the substance but claimed it was meant for Ivory Coast rather than Liberia and that it was Dioumessy’s first time transporting drugs. The suspect claimed that he hasn’t talked to the drug’s owner since his arrest.

“I have not been into drug business before; this is my first time. I am a tailor by profession,” suspect Dioumessy explained.
