Monrovia, Liberia – Hope for Community Development has made cash presentation to the United Blind Association of Liberia.The United Blind Association of Liberia’s house in the Gardnersville, LPRC community was destroyed by a strong storm that struck Monrovia and its environs in April of this year. The donation of five hundred US dollars (500 USD) will go toward renovating the home.
Presenting the cash donation, Cllr. Benedict Sagbe reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to collaborating with its partners to realize the goal of constructing the Liberians and Persons Living with Disability Learning Center. A multipurpose complex catering primarily to the visually impaired community.
Hope for Community Development anticipate to break ground for the multipurpose facility in Bensonville City, Montserrado County late this year.
HOPE FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT is a non-profit organization registered with the Canadian government. They work with marginalized youth and families to impact transformational change through education, programming, and workshops in Canada.
With the limited financial resources, HOPE FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT has assisted approximately six thousands person with disabilities with basic needs in Liberia and currently working with several disability organizations since its establishment in 2020.
Mr. Wilfred Gewon, the Chief Administrative Officer, accepted the cash presentation on behalf of the United Blind Association of Liberia. He praised the Hope for Community Development family, he described the cash donation as timely for the association.
”This amount will be used for its intended purpose, trust me two to three days from now you will hear zinc and hummer sound on this building and you can do your background check, I’m also glad that Mr. Dagoseh and Hope For Community Development has expressed their interest in partnering with us at the United Blind Association of Liberia.”
The United Blind Association was established in 1995 with the exclusive goal of bringing blind individuals in Liberia together, fostering integration, and providing education. There are currently two branches of the United Blind Association in the counties of Bong and Grand Bassa.
Over 250 students have graduated from the United Blind Training Academy from the primary division across Liberia since its foundation in 1997.
