The UVA employment program calls on the Acting President and deans and will feature training seminars of the University of Liberia to get involved in the project actively.
The bank wants to make sure a good number of 104th class graduates can take advantage of this possibility. The three top-performing students will especially be hired by UBA, therefore encouraging excellence among recent graduates.
Declaring the Class of 2023 104th commencement during his speech at the University of Liberia convocation for the A. Romeo Horton College of Business and Public Administration, the UBA Managing Director said Departments including accounting, economics, management, and public administration make up this college, so underlining the bank’s dedication to helping graduates from these disciplines into the profession.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the University of Liberia campus in Fendall. It drew a diverse audience, including family members, guests, notable personalities, and university staff and faculty. A total of 886 graduates were conferred with degrees, celebrating their achievements and marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys.
Mr. Abraham said, “I put a challenge to the Acting President and deans: in two months we will launch an entrepreneurship and employment scheme and we want as many graduates as possible to participate in the training”. UBA exhorts every graduate to sit the test.
Emphasizing that success only depends on their efforts, he also urged graduates to trust in the reality of their aspirations. Stating, “Work to make the economy independent,” he advised them to pay great attention to any possibility and seize it. You are the limit of your own potential. Adapt to circumstances, be creative, and veers your challenges in direction.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh reminded the graduates that their academic credentials are keys to releasing their potential and changing Liberian society, not only certificates. As Liberia starts this new chapter in their life, he underlined that their abilities, imagination, and passion are what would propel development and success.
As our visitor, Boakai lately underlined: “We must always remember that our attitude shapes our behavior, which in turn shapes our society.” We have to start having dialogues that will cause a positive attitude change immediately if we are to create a better society.
Dr. Conteh urged the graduates to avoid complacency with standards impeding their development.
Rather, he advised students to use creative ideas and a dedication to excellence to question accepted wisdom. He underlined that their educational process should concentrate not just on
personal success as well as helping Liberia and the world to be a better place.
He pushed them to keep in mind that leadership is about inspiring good change rather than only about titles as they entered the workforce. In their professional paths, he urged them to live out honesty, compassion, and service to others.
The Acting President informed the graduates they are change-makers, entrepreneurs, and leaders of Liberia. He exhorted them to apply their knowledge and abilities to empower others, generate possibilities, and forward society toward a better future for all.
He exhorted them to keep dedicated to their objectives, be strong in the face of adversity, and always keep in mind that their success defines society rather than just individual accomplishments.
