Monrovia, Liberia – According to multiple media outlets on Thursday, the Ministry of Justice sought a search and seizure warrant for former President George Weah’s residence in search of incriminating evidence in the Gracious Ride and Liberia government case. This request was made on the advice of President Joseph Boakai’s legal team, which is headed by Cllr. Bushuben Keita.
Speaking to reporters during the regular press briefing held by the Ministry of Information on Thursday, August 22, 2024, in Monrovia, Minister Piah emphasized that the administration of President Boakai does not intend to raid the residence of former President Weah, but the Supreme Court is deliberating over the Gracious Ride case. He said, Frontpage Africa and other media outlets lied the reports were blatantly unfair to the people of Liberia, false, and deceptive in their publications.
According to Minister Piah, the Ministry of Justice is the government’s prosecuting branch, and it is through it that any inquiries, indictments, or arrest warrants that need to be issued would come. FrontPage Africa did not contact the Ministry of Justice to request confirmation of the story. In addition, the Legal Advisor has not requested or participated in any warrant that contradicts the FPA narrative.
Minister Piah also encouraged the Liberia media outlets to stop presenting false information, pleading with them to always report what they see and the truth.
