Internews Liberia with support from the Liberia Media Initiative in collaboration with Local Voices Liberia Media Network and Center For Media Studies and Peacebuilding has ended a two-day Fact-Checking training designed for Executive Mansion Reporters.
The program which commenced Thursday came to an end on Friday at the Corina Hotel in Monrovia.
The training which was also the first of its kind brought together over twenty-five Liberian journalists covering the executive mansion from separate media institutions.
Speaking Friday, July 29, 2022, at the end of the training, the Chairperson of the Executive Mansion Press Corps, Ms. Dennise Nimpson thanked all reporters for participating in the training.
She termed the training as a great learning opportunity for Executive Mansion Reporters, stressing that the leadership of EMPC will continue to push for securing different kinds of training opportunities for reporters assigned at the Mansion. Ms. Nimpson at the same time thanked the facilitators and organizers for the training and supports for improvement in the media landscape especially Executive Mansion reporters.
The participants believe that if such training is provided on a regular basis, it will enhance the workings of reporters at the Executive Mansion.
Participants are expected to promote freedom of expression through quality journalism as well as promote freedom of information through the implementation of the FOI Act and increase citizens’ awareness of the FOI Act.
