Japan Gives Liberia Extra US$2 Million in Food Assistance

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – An additional US$2 million in food assistance is provided by Japan to Liberia; Foreign Minister Maxwell Kemayah urges Japan to double help by supporting essential sectors. Further food assistance in the amount of US$2 million has been given to George Weah’s administration by the Government and People of Japan, with the aim of improving national developments.

Mochizuki Hisanobu, the Japanese ambassador accredited to Liberia, said during the signing ceremony on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, that the effort is an illustration of what can be accomplished when people work together. He stated that there is still hope for a safe future in the long-standing connection between Liberia and Japan, particularly in the area of food security.

Maxwell Kemayah, the foreign minister of Liberia, expressed gratitude on behalf of his country’s government and people to the Republic of Japan for their long-standing bilateral relationship. He matained that Liberia and Japan remain friends.
