Jeety Feeds Over 1,500 Inmates at Monrovia Central Prison

Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva, known as Mr. Jeety, a former Honorary Consul General of India in Liberia, has committed to improving the South Beach housing area for Monrovia Central Prison inmates. On Friday, November 11, 2022, Mr. Jeety supplied 1,566 cook meals including cakes, water, and soft drinks, 15 gallons to store water, and 500 plates for food among others. The Indian Businessman noted that the continued food distribution to the prison compound is part of his corporate social responsibility to the people of Liberia, noting that identifying with Liberians makes him feel like a Liberian.

The Prison compound that was intended to house less than 500 inmates, however, houses more than 1,000 prisoners there. Therefore, congestion is a typical occurrence, and a lack of some essential utilities can lead to serious issues at times.

One of those essential amenities is the lone water-supplying hand pump, which has been broken for a long and has to be fixed. During his presentation of the food and other supplies to the Monrovia Central Prison’s administrators, Jeety exhorts his fellow businesspeople to help the less fortunate.
