Monrovia, Liberia – As part of their yearly Ramadan outreach to the Muslim community, Jeety Rubber and its subsidiary, Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC), gave food supplies and financial donations to numerous mosques in Margibi and Bong Counties.
Along with cash contributions ranging from LD20,000 to LD50,000 each mosque, the donations on March 18 included sacks of rice, vegetable oil, noodles, and canned sardines. Fifteen mosques in Margibi County were assisted. The mosques were in Mandingo Quarter, Lango Town, Vai Town, Madina, Konola, Weala, and Barclay Farm.
Borlola Mosque, Mowea Town Mosque, Wowawa Town Mosque, Perkins Town Mosque, Yarnwullie Town Mosque, Dawoo Town Mosque, Peter Town Mosque, and Wohm Mosque also benefited. Tumutu Mosque, Kpakoloquiata Mosque, and Coneh’s Farm Mosque in Bong County were among the recipients.
Business tycoon Upjit Singh Sachdeva, well known by his stage name Mr. Jeety, stated in a statement that the companies’ annual gift reflects Jeety Rubber and SRC’s longstanding dedication to the Muslim populations in Margibi and Bong Counties.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection, compassion, and giving. We see it as our responsibility, not just as a business, but as a member of these communities, to stand alongside our Muslim brothers and sisters during this holy month,” Mr. Jeety said.
He continued that the initiative has grown over time to include additional towns, demonstrating what he described as a stronger link between the enterprises and the people of Bong and Margibi Counties. “Our workers, our neighbors, and the families around our plantations are the foundation of everything we do. Supporting them during Ramadan is one way we honor that relationship,” Mr. Jeety added.

Imams from the several mosques thanked Jeety Rubber and SRC in their speeches for their “consistent and meaningful support during the holy month.” The food donations went directly toward Iftar, the evening meal that breaks the fast, according to the Imams, relieving families of some of their financial load throughout the month-long observance.
Muslims around the world observe Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, by fasting from sunrise to sunset, praying, and performing charitable deeds. Community donations from companies and people have become a prominent aspect of the season in Liberia, where Muslims comprise a sizable section of the population.

Muslims throughout Liberia celebrated Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast, with prayers, group meals, and festivities as the Ramadan fast ended Friday, March 20. Jeety Rubber and SRC, which operate some of Liberia’s major rubber concessions, have maintained a presence in Margibi and Bong Counties for years, with their workforce and supply chains deeply embedded in the communities across the counties.

Building and running nine deep-bore wells in Weala with a combined daily capacity of 18,000 gallons to serve over 6,000 people is one of the initiatives. Other initiatives include the creation of a $10,000 annual district scholarship fund, a daily feeding program to fight hunger, and the continuous expansion of the businesses’ 50-bed clinic to include four operating rooms and a dedicated eye clinic.
A fully equipped ambulance for emergency medical services, frequent eye-care outreach programs, sponsorship of specialised treatments for patients needing advanced medical care, including eye care, and financial and technical support for the Margibi County sports team are some additional initiatives.
