The Management of the John F. Kennedy Medical Center says it has been challenged with the water supply at the Liberian-Japanese Friendship Maternity Hospital since Sunday, November 28, 2021.
According to a release issued Wednesday, December 1, 2021, this is due to power fluctuation from the national grid that damaged the water pumps. The release further says efforts were made immediately to have the pumps replaced, but due to the public holiday, all vendors were closed.
However, the hospital said its technicians are working tirelessly to troubleshoot the damaged pumps until new pumps are delivered. The release further said water is currently being provided manually by a hard-working and dedicated staff as management anticipates restoring the normal water supply. Unfortunately, the hospital’s management said elevators at the Memorial Hospital were also damaged due to the fluctuation of power from the national grid since October 10, 2021.
The release said without delay, the damaged parts were ordered from overseas as they are not available in-country. It says some of the needed parts were imported into the country on November 30, 2021, by the service provider and completion of work is expected soon. The Medical Center says it recognizes its obligations to the Liberian people to provide quality healthcare in a conducive environment.
