The Jonathan Paye-Layleh school of Journalism over the weekend graduated over 22 students who have completed courses proscribed by the Ministry of Education in professional Journalism in the Republic of Liberia making the total of 42 certified Journalists who have graduated from the Institution since its establishment back in 2020.
Some of those Journalists are currently practicing at some media Institutions across the country, according to the Institution Coordinator Bobby M. Tingban.
Serving as the keynote speaker for the 2nd Commencement convocation, which was held at the Peace Island Community Hall, BBC correspondence to Liberia Jonathan Paye-Layleh admonished the graduands to have a goal and be cognizant of services that they will render, should they make a positive impact on the country developmental agenda. He called on the graduates to avoid unwholesome behavior that will destroy what others have sacrificed labor for many years to achieve.
He mentioned that the country is on a critical road in terms of Leadership, he disclosed that Liberia is underdeveloped because citizens do not care to fight economic crime and vote against corrupt officials rather they glorified those who continue to improvise.
Jonathan Paye-Layleh used the occasion to caution the graduating class to fact-check information before disseminating information to avoid further embarrassment and relax on best practices all prescribed set of universally accepted behavior referred to as professional Journalism, service skills when performing professional duties. He noted that the 14 years of civil war in the country were basically on power struggle not necessary in the interest of the citizens.
He at the same time lauded the Administrator and called on the graduates to be effective communicators as professional individual decision making and change the paradox and be a responsible citizens because people depend on Journalists for quality and balanced information in the world.
