Monrovia– In a move to decentralize justice and security services locally, Justice Minister Cllr. Frank Musa Dean has reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting regional centers. The Minister made these remarks over the weekend when his ministry gave two 4-door Hilux Cabin pickups worth over USD$80,000 to the regional hub in Gbarnga, Bong County to help the hub with its problems.

According to Minister Dean, President George M. Weah promised to continue supporting and taking ownership of projects that recognize the need to decentralize justice and security services regionally. The vehicles were purchased by the Liberian government through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

This is a part of the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPPD), and we are determined to see it through, the Attorney General disclosed.

“In keeping with his promise, President George M. Weah will continue to back and take responsibility for initiatives that acknowledge the need for regional decentralization of justice and security services. We are dedicated to seeing this through since it is a part of the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPPD), Minister Dean said.

According to the minister, hub one was created and dedicated in February 2012 as the first of five hubs to provide justice and security services, such as covenant patrol, emergency reaction to civil disturbance occurrences, surveillance patrol, and legal services. He emphasized that there have been issues and difficulties with the parlor term that serves the counties of Nimba, Bong, and Lofa.

However, Minister Dean expressed gratitude to the Legislature for recognizing their need for assistance. As a result, money has been set aside in the national budget for the hub’s renovation, the purchase of vehicles, the upkeep of the hub, and other necessary equipment. He mentioned that hub two, which is in Grand Gedeh and Sinoe County, is also covered by the funding.

“We will be renovating the Zwedru office, providing office equipment and motorbike for outreach. We look forward to additional support to have all five hubs operational.”

The Ministry’s first responders, according to Minister Dean, are the security officers, he emphasized that having the appropriate logistics is essential for efficient operation. “Our security personnel serve as first responders. They sacrificed their time and effort to help and defend.” The Attorney General cautioned that the pickups be utilized only for security operations in the three hub counties, namely Bong, Nimba, and Lofa.

Remarking, Melvin Cole, Bong County District #3 Representative praised the work of security officers in Bong County, and across the nation for their relentless efforts to ensure that there is security and peace in the nation.

Representative Cole stated that there are numerous hazards and obstacles that security in the nation must contend with, highlighting the substantial challenges that security faces. He asserted that a nation’s security is essential to its peace and stability. The Bong lawmaker pledged his full support for the nation’s judicial and security systems at the legislative level.
