Monrovia, Liberia – All departing government officials are required by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission to report their assets by submitting an Assert Declaration form to the LACC by Tuesday, December 12, 2023. The institution stated that the statement will require the provision of an extensive list of assertions, encompassing assets, financial holdings, investments, and any other pertinent financial interests, among other things.
According to the New LACC Act of 2022, the LACC stated that such information will be handled with the utmost confidentiality and will be verified to guarantee correctness and adherence to legal requirements.
The Anti-Corruption Institution stated that the demand for explicit disclosure is an essential step in guaranteeing accountability and openness from the departing government officials. According to LACC, the exit disclosure of claims is also an essential procedure to show departing officials’ dedication to moral behaviour and honesty during their tenure.
The LACC further stated that by publicly revealing their financial interests, departing officials will support the advancement of an equitable, just, and corruption-free system. The organisation asked for everyone’s assistance and expressed confidence that all officials would treat the process with the gravity it requires.
