LDEA Launch Manhunt for Famous Drug Dealer

Ganta, Nimba County – LDEA has launched a manhunt for a notorious drug dealer in Ganta, Nimba County. Fitzgerald Biago, the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Officer-in-Charge of the Liberia Durg Enforcement Agency (LDEA), declared that the suspect will be arrested and prosecuted.

Charles Taylor escaped from a Ganta holding cell, which prompted the LDEA to announce a manhunt for him, according to a press statement. Known for his role in the illegal drug trafficking throughout Nimba County, suspect Taylor was apprehended by locals on August 19, 2025, and turned over to the LDEA.

He did, however, manage to escape detention under dubious circumstances, which the LDEA is looking into. Ganta City residents are unhappy about the incident and are calling for prompt action and the suspect’s re-arrest.

According to DCP Biago, any officer proven to be accountable for his escape will be held fully accountable as the matter is a severe issue for the agency.

Both the Ganta commander and the general commander of Nimba County have been ordered by the LDEA to come to Monrovia and appear before the LDEA Board for an investigation. “Any attempt to undermine Liberia’s war on drugs will not be tolerated,” DCP. Biago stressed.
