LFA announces Lone Star Coach Vacancy

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Football Association has announced a vacancy for the men’s senior national team coach or the Lone Star. According to the LFA release dated January 3, 2023, the vacancy runs to January 15, 2024.

The position became vacant due to Coach Ansu Keita’s contract termination on December 30, 2023. The ruling was deemed to be Sporting Just Cause by the LFA. Under the direction of Coach Ansu Keita, Liberia participated in seven games; he won six, drew one, and was the worst national team coach in recent memory.

After Lone Star’s 1-0 losses against Malawi and Equatorial Guinea in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the SKD before the end of 2023, football fans protested in multiple ways due to Coach Keita’s poor performance as Head coach of the Lonestar.
