LFA Inaugurate Three standard-sized, FIFA-approved playing Pitches

Monrovia, Liberia – A standard-sized, FIFA-approved playing field in Gompa, Nimba County, and two FIFA Arena mini-pitches in Montserrado and Margibi Counties were formally inaugurated by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) on Monday with assistance from FIFA.

Commencing on November 4, 2024, the Gompa project, which was supported by the FIFA Forward Program, includes significant improvements such as the installation of floodlights, an underground sprinkler system, inner fencing, and roofing for the spectator stands. Various LFA competitions, including grassroots tournaments, will be held in the facility as part of the LFA’s larger infrastructure development initiative, which is being led by President Mustapha Raji.

In Montserrado and Margibi, the LFA and FIFA additionally set aside two 20 x 40-meter (7-a-side) FIFA Arena mini-pitches. The facilities can be found in the EBK Barracks in Margibi and Bible Way Mission School on the RIA Road.

In order to encourage grassroots football development for both boys and girls, the LFA and FIFA collaborated to execute the Arena project, which began as a pilot project and involved placing artificial mini-pitches in community and school settings.

Eleven member associations, referred to as the “Starting XI,” are gaining from this experimental phase, including Liberia. The project, which is supported by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, aims to construct more than 1,000 mini-pitches globally, giving kids more chances to play football.

Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Honorable Samuel A. Stevquoah among other top soccer dignitaries including LFA president, Mustapha I. Raji, the Ministry of Youth and Sports all participated in the ceremony.
