FIFA provided one million United States Dollars (US$1000000) to the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to cover travel and accommodation of the National Soccer team of Liberia. FIFA is also making available an additional two hundred thousand United States Dollars (US$200,000) to purchase training equipment for the players of the national teams.
According to FIFA’s Forward 3.0, the contributions for travel will be released in four equal installments of two hundred fifty thousand United States Dollars (US$250,000) in January of every year, while equipment will be released in four equal installments of fifty thousand (US$50,000); both for the four-year cycle (2023-2026).
Three hundred thousand United States Dollars (US 300,000) has already been made delivered to the Liberia Football Association; two hundred fifty thousand United States Dollars (US 250,000) for national teams’ travels, and fifty thousand United States Dollars (US 50,000) for equipment.
LFA in its release recently noted that it is committed to developing football in Liberia in addition to the Forward 3.0 Program.
The news comes days after Lone Star’s new coach, Ansu Keita named a 25-man provisional squad (home-based players) to begin preparation for double-headed Africa’s Nations Cup qualifiers with Bafana Bafana next month.
Liberia will face South Africa in an away fixture on March 24 in Johannesburg with the return leg taking place on March 28, 2023, at the Samuel Kanyon doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
