Liberia’s Amputees National Football team has returned to the country with a 2nd place trophy following a 3-2 defeat to Ghana Amputees Football team in the grand final of the 2021 Amputees African Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
The delegation of 22 members arrived in the country at 20:00 local time via Robert International Airport. The tournament was staged in Dares Salam, Tanzania from November 27 to December 4, 2021.
Despite the defeat, Monrovia Giants striker, Matthew Joe won the top scorer award with nine (9) goals in five matches for the red, white and blue. According to statistics, Matthew has scored 14 goals in two Tournaments. He scored five goals when Liberia finished 3rd in the 2019 edition hosted in Benguela, Angola.

Liberia has also secured a slot in the 2022 Amputees World Cup expected to be hosted in Turkey.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Community in Tanzania gown the President of Liberia Amputees Football and Sports Association, Cooper George for the team’s brilliant performance in the competition.
