Paynesville City – Liberia’s national male team, the Lone Star, impressed home fans with an enthusiastic and self-assured performance as they defeated Sierra Leone’s senior national men’s team 3-1.
The Lone Star took full advantage of their home field advantage, controlling the game and setting the pace with goals from Sebastian Teclar and Ayouba Kosiah.
Sierra Leone found it difficult to match the pressure and attacking danger of the hosts, while Liberia, supported by a lively crowd, played with poise and intensity throughout.
After ten men at peace on the pitch, the neighbours were able to grab one back in the last moments. Twenty men were on the pitch as a result of both teams receiving red cards for poor tackle at the end of the 90 minutes.
