Liberia Diaspora Conference Ends In Style

As Dozens Recommend To Boakai

Washington D.C, USA – At the conclusion of the historic Liberia Diaspora Conference in 2025, delegates made numbers of recommendations for development to the Liberian government, which is led by President Joseph N. Boakai.

The three-day conference, which took place in Washington, DC, in the United States, brought together many diasporas from around the world to discuss important stakeholders how to move Liberia forward.

Following the conclusion of the several sessions, the delegates’ many suggestions will be further developed into significant policies meant to support Liberia’s growth and development, as part of the Diaspora office’s aims. Diaspora Liberians were extremely eager to come home and expressed a strong desire to have a real effect in their homeland.

To show his government’s initiative in the process, the Liberian leader has already suggested the creation of a commission for the Diaspora, a huge step that is meant to get things started right away. He revealed that his government is aware of the significant contribution that Diaspora Liberians have made to their nation and that action is now needed to grow Liberia.

According to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, this is the time for Diaspora Liberians to return home and ensure that they further change their remittances to infrastructure developments as well as job creation and youth empowerment amongst others.

President Boakai reiterated the importance of Diaspora Liberians teaching their fellow Kinsman how to fish instead of always giving them fish to eat during what was described as a successful three-day event.

At a packed Presidential Town Hall Meeting to conclude the 2025 Liberia Diaspora Conference, President Boakai also praised the United States Government for giving Liberians the opportunity and space to be empowered in a variety of fields, many of whom are making significant contributions back home.

He reiterated that the United States has consistently shown itself to be a genuine traditional ally and partner to Liberia, particularly by means of its support.

Responding generally to key questions and concerns raised by the many Diasporas Liberians in the hall during the Presidential Townhall meeting, the Liberian leader assured them that Liberia is open and ready for business and call on them to bring back their investment, expertise among others to collectively work to develop Liberia.

Eva Uboti Wallace, a Liberian who has lived in the United States for many years, offered to invest three million dollars in infrastructure in her hometown. President Boakai was impressed by her initiative and gave her the assurance that his government will put in more effort to build the road to Grand Gedeh County in order to expedite the project and other development projects throughout the County.

The engaging and well attended Liberia Diaspora Conference, 2025 under the theme: Building the future together; Reconciliation, National Healing, Growth and Prosperity which ended in style marks the first edition as more are expected to come.

According to the head of the Diaspora office, Erasmus Williams, the dozens of Recommendations a part of their plan engagement will be review in December at the second annual Liberia Diaspora return ceremony which will take place in Liberia.

He call on Liberians living abroad to return home in December 2025 and continue their involvement with the sole purpose of supporting their homeland. Williams also thank key stakeholders for their support to the process as he envisioned more support in order to help realize their objectives.
