A high-power Liberian delegation led by Prof. D. Ansu Sonii has joined the 41st General Conference and 75th Anniversary of UNESCO. The event is being held in Paris, France from the 9th – 21st of November, 2021. According to MoE, this year’s conference focuses on Open Science and Artificial Intelligence.
The Conference and the 75th Anniversary is an opportunity to take a look at decades of history and other activities of Member States and Governments. It will also pay homage to its founders among other issues. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) (French: Organisation des Nations unies pour l’éducation, la science et la culture) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) aimed at promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, the arts, the sciences, and culture. It has 193 member states and 11 associate members, as well as partners in the non-governmental, intergovernmental, and private sector. Headquartered at the World Heritage Center in Paris, France, UNESCO has 53 regional field offices and 199 national commissions that facilitate its global mandate.

Admission to the 41st session of the General Conference includes various Member States delegations and observers from non-governmental organizations (other than those in official partnership with UNESCO). Foundations and similar institutions maintaining official relations with UNESCO as well as from other international organizations are attending the Conference.
Liberia’s delegation is led by the Minister of Education Professor D. Ansu Sonii along with four technicians from the Ministry of Education, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, The President of the University of Liberia, etc. During the conference, the President and Vice-Presidents of the General Conference and chairpersons will be elected for the next two years.
