Nassau, Bahamas – After finishing in 38.65 seconds, the men’s 4×10 relay team from Liberia qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Senior competitors from around the world competed in the 2024 World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, 2024, making it an exciting two days for Liberia’s National Athletics squad.
The top two relay teams in each heat received automatic qualifying tickets to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. At the conclusion of the competition, 14 teams from every category were among the top 70 teams overall.
Included in that number was the men’s 4×100-meter relay team from Liberia, who set a new national record in 38.65 seconds to keep the country represented in the relay squad for the previous five Olympic Games.
Jabez Reeves, Emmanuel Matadi, Akeen Sirleaf, and Joseph Fahnbulleh are members of Liberia 4×100 team.
Despite recording a time of 43.15 seconds, Liberia’s women’s 4×100 relay team was unable to secure automatic qualification to Paris 2024.
They will wait for Cameroon’s qualifiers which is expected to take place in June of this year to determine their qualification.
Ebony Morrison started things off as the first leg before Destiny Smith-Barnett, Maia McCoy, and Symone Darius followed as they finished in the heat with the 13th fastest time from the race.
