Liberia set record in Continental Athletics Championship as team grabs 13 medals

Liberia’s athletics team won five (5) silver and eight (8) bronze medals in the   Youth and Junior Championships in the Confederation of African Athletics Region II tournament held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana.

In the Youth 100m male, Arthur Quaqua and Lassana Trawally won silver and bronze respectively; Jonathan Tomah grabbed bronze in the 400m and Fred Krah, Jr. settled for bronze in Shot Put. Telvin Jallah won bronze in male the junior 100m event.

Also, in the Youth Medley Relay Men, Team Liberia clinched four (4) silver medals and in the Medley Relay Women, Team Liberia got four bronze medals. It may be recalled, that Team Liberia departed for Ghana Wednesday and Thursday respectively to participate in the 2022 CAA Region II Youth/Junior Championship in Cape Coast, Ghana.

A 22-man delegation that is expected to return to the country on Monday, May 23, 2022, is headed by the Vice President for Technical Affairs, Atty. Frederick B. Kray. The two days tournament started on Friday, May 20, 2022, and ended on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

Meanwhile, the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports funded Team Liberia’s participation in the competition.
