Liberian Students Union in Saudi Arabia Concludes Two-days Islamic Training in Monrovia

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Muslim Council of Liberia and the Liberian Students Union in Saudi Arabia concluded a two-day Islamic training course in Congo Town over the weekend. Speaking at the ceremony to commemorate the completion of the training, a candidate for the District Three seat in Margibi County urged Muslims to band together in support of one another so that they could be heard in the national assembly.

Felesu Swaray, who also serves as the administrative assistant to the director of the Kofi Annan Institute at the University of Liberia, claimed that it is inconceivable that Muslims would compete against one another in the present, when Muslims are striving to have a greater voice in politics.

”We must avoid divisiveness in all that we do since the country is going to enter a crucial period in its history, and there will inevitably be confusion among Muslims.”

Mohamed Kanneh, vice chairman for administration at the National Muslim Council of Liberia, made a comment during the presentation encouraging Muslim women to benefit from the scholarship opportunities in Saudi Arabia. He claimed that one of the requirements for female students to be eligible for Saudi Arabia’s scholarship programs is that they be married to a Muslim.

Fumba Sheriff, the chairman of Liberia’s National Muslim Council, praised the kids for informing the council about their interactions with the Muslim pupils in the council. He hoped that Muslim students in higher education institutions would coordinate their efforts and keep the council informed of their plans.

Swaliho Fahnbuleh, president of the Liberia Students Union in Saudi Arabia, urged the Liberian government to start providing job opportunities for qualified graduates of Saudi Arabian colleges who have completed professional education.

He claims that many of the students are not studying Islam, but rather are professional nurses, doctors, and computer engineers.

Justice Kabineh Janeh, Associate Justice of the Liberian Supreme Court, the National Muslim Council of Liberia’s leadership, friends and family of the trainees, among others, attended the function honoring the completion of the course.

The National Muslims Council of Liberia’s headquarters in Congo Town served as the location for the program, which had as its topic “Holding unto the Rope of Allah.”
