Liberia’s Outgoing First Lady Clare Weah Meets incoming First Lady Kartumu Boakai

Monrovia, Liberia – At a transition meeting with her successor, Mrs. Kartumu Y. Boakai, on Thursday, January 18, 2024, First Lady Clar Marie Weah, who is leaving office, hosted the meeting at the Executive Mansion. The two First Ladies had a historic meeting to discuss Liberia’s future, which marked a smooth transition of political power four days before Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai takes office as the country’s next president.

As the future First Lady of Liberia, Mrs. Boakai expressed her appreciation to Mrs. Weah for all of her accomplishments while she was in office. Mrs. Boakai expressed her appreciation for the departing First Lady’s passion and commitment and noted the significant advancements made under her direction, especially in the areas of underprivileged support and children’s education.

The transfer of significant initiatives under Mrs. Weah’s leadership was a crucial component of their conversation. Among these, the Hope Academy in the City of Hope and the Army Wives Vocational Training Center stand out as centers of empowerment and education. The nation will never forget Mrs. Weah’s dedication to enhancing lives via these projects.

Even though she was just appointed, Mrs. Boakai is accustomed to the demands and challenges of working for the government. Her experiences as the former Unity Party Second Lady of Liberia and her work with the KYB Foundation, which addresses the welfare of disadvantaged children, put her in a great position to expand on the foundation of compassion and advancement currently in place.

On Monday, January 22, President George Manneh Weah will relinquish power to President-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai. This elegant exchange between the two First Ladies highlights the peaceful and progressive transition of power. It honors the lasting spirit of cooperation and hope in Liberia and celebrates women in leadership.
