Holds First National convention.
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberty Party has put an end to its bitter disagreements that hampered its growth and development for over four years. Stakeholders and supporters from all around Liberia attended the party’s national convention on Saturday, where the resolution was presented.
Members celebrated their newfound togetherness with marches, hugs, discussions, and laughter throughout the occasion. The convention signaled the party’s upward momentum and represented a dramatic change in the political environment.
The Liberty Party has been unable to realize its full potential due to internal strife and division since the passing of its former political leader, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine. When political parties were supposed to be cohesive and well-organized for the 2023 presidential and congressional elections, the party was unable to put up a united face.
The party was further divided into two groups by a leadership dispute, both of which claimed legitimacy and were led by Representative Musa Bility of Nimba County District #7. However, the Liberty Party has today announced the long-awaited holding of its national convention, marking a new chapter after almost four years of unresolved strife.
Over 120 delegates from all around Liberia attend the event. Senator Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence, the political leader of the LP said the gathering was an important step in bringing the party’s divisions together and restoring confidence among its constituents.
Senator Karngar-Lawrence stated, “This convention represents the pinnacle of our reconciliation process, a critical juncture in our path toward unity, strength, and renewed purpose.” She underlined that the gathering provide a forum for discussion, cooperation, and group decision-making to mold the party’s future.
Karngar-Lawrence declared, “This is a time to celebrate progress, reaffirm our commitment, and chart a course for a stronger, more united party as we come together as one Liberty Party family.”
