LISCR FC has been crowned Champions of the 2021/2022 Petro Trade Cup following a 4-3 post-match penalty shout-out victory over Tony FC on Sunday, April 24, 20222, at SKD Sports Complex practice pitch in Paynesville.
The regular 90 minutes of play and extra 30 minutes ended 2-2 and the match was decided on penalties to determine who take the championship.
The Shipping Boys were on course to deliver the championship in the 90 minutes when Rufus Padmore scored twice in the opening minutes of the first half, but they failed to capitalize on the lead as Tony FC responded through the former National County Sports meet MVP, James Tarpeh to end the first half at 2-1 in favor of LISCR.
The 2nd division side completed the come back through Abraham Kamara formerly of Bristol FC to take the match to extra 30minutes. The play went against Tony FC as they missed two out of five spot-kicks which automatically determine the LISCR Champions of the competition.
Meanwhile, LISCR, Watanga FC, and Determine Girls will represent Liberia in the next editions of CAF competitions. Watanga FC will take part in the CAF men’s Champions League while Determine Girls will participate in the women’s version of the competition.
Determine defeated Ambassadors FC 4-2 to walk away with the women’s category of the Petro Trade Cup in the grand final on Saturday to collect double National league for the 2021/2022 season.
LISCR FC for their part will participate in CAF Confederation Cup.
