Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Handball Association (LNHA) has reaffirmed its confidence in its current leadership following an emergency Executive Committee meeting held at the Sports Commission on Broad Street. The association stressed its complete support for the legally recognised leadership led by President J. Aratus Larkpor in a statement released to the public following the meeting. Secretary General Haji Musa Sesey, Treasurer Deborah Hiama, Vice President for Operations Samuel A. Hasay, and Vice President for Administration Varney Kawah are further important figures.
The LNHA also emphasized the makeup of its Executive Committee, which has over 18 members that represent different facets of the sport. These include representatives from the referees and coaches, as well as delegates from affiliated teams like the Bushrod Warriors, Mighty Rangers, and Sinkor Oilers.
Simultaneously, the organization strongly advised the general population, government agencies, business associates, and international athletic organisations not to interact with unapproved individuals. The LNHA reaffirmed that J. Mason Sweler, the previous president, has been dismissed from the organization since 2018 and is not authorized to act on its behalf.
The declaration states that any organization that decides to interact with people outside of the acknowledged leadership does so at its own risk because the association will not be liable for any monetary or legal repercussions that may result from such activities. The LNHA reaffirmed its position as Liberia’s only handball regulatory body and promised to continue concentrating on growing the sport through regional leagues, referee training, and increasing possibilities for Liberian athletes to compete internationally.
The public and stakeholders have been asked to exercise caution and notify the LNHA secretariat on Broad Street of any dubious claims of representation. The statement was issued by Secretary General Haji Musa Sesey on behalf of the Executive Committee.
