Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police have accused and sent a 34-year-old man to court for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death in the Bong Mines Bridge Community. Defendant Sam Brown was apprehended in Butaw, Sinoe County, on December 4, 2023, following his escape from the crime scene after committing the offence.
According to the police investigation, victim Alice Kollie and suspect Brown had a cordial intimate relationship and even lived together and travelled to the Republic of Guinea to see his family before her demise.
The inquiry also showed that because of the ongoing abuse suspect Sam Brown began committing against the victim out of envy, the victim and defendant Brown’s relationship soured to the point where they were no longer living together.
The inquiry revealed, among other things, that on Monday, November 20, 2023, at around three in the morning, suspect Brown and victim Alice were in bed at her house when Brown answered an incoming phone, causing confusion between the victim and the defendant.
The confusion later turned into a tussle, noting that defendant Sam Brown left the unconscious body of the victim in her room, locked up the victim, and fled to Sinoe County. Sam Brown, the defendant, faces a pending court trial after being accused of murder.
