The Liberia National Police (LNP) has restored calm in the Bea Mountain Mining area of Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County, after days of protest over demands from the protesting residents. The LNP Spokesman Moses Carter clarified that at no time was a live bullet discharged, as reported by some media institutions. Due to the failure of protesters to disperse after a series of constructive efforts to have them remove blockades from the entrances of the mining facility, the LNP was left with no alternative, but to use tear gas as a conventional means of dispersing any group that refuses to adhere to lawful instructions.

He said absolutely, no major injuries were sustained as the result of dispersing the violent protesters. Sadly, the vehicle of the Inspector General of Police was attacked with stones which the side windshield got broken and a vehicle of the Bea Mountain Company was set ablaze by the protesters. According to the police, three (3) persons have been arrested, detained and are undergoing Police investigations pending prosecution. The Police Spokesman said Currently, negotiations are undergoing by Traditional Leaders and some Heads of the Liberia National Police as calm has been restored in the Bea Mountain Company. The engagement has resulted in citizens going through their normal business in the County.

Meanwhile, the LNP has with immediate effect disrobed and subsequently turned over one of its Officers of the Saclepea, Nimba County Police detail identified as Patrolman Momodu Dassen to the Professional Standards Division (PSD) for alleged Police brutality against Christian Dahn, 19 years who was accused of receiving an amount of two thousand Liberian dollars (LRD$ 2,000.00) for work, but failed to do said job.

According to a police press briefing on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at its headquarters in Monrovia, Maryland County Police Detachment through its woman and Children Protection Section are presently investigating a man identified as Henry Nyemah a resident of Happer City, Maryland County for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2:00 AM. The Police investigation established that suspect Nyemah is a motorbike rider who was hired by the victim and her friend to carry them to New Kru Town but intentionally diverted them to waahodo Town which made them afraid as they started crying and later jumped from the bike.

Police probe added that when they fell down from the bike, her friend ran away and the suspect grabbed the victim and forcibly had sex with her and ran away leaving his motorbike on the scene, but was later arrested. The victim was rushed to a medical facility for medical treatment, while the investigation continues.
