Capitol Hill, Monrovia – The Unity Party offices in central Monrovia was the scene of an accident that resulted in three deaths, according to the Liberia National Police. The LNP reports that it has opened an investigation into a sad incident that left twenty-two people injured.
On November 20, 2023, at around 22:00 (or 10:00 PM local time), it is said that the incident occurred. According to the medical professional at the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital, there were two males and one female deceased.
According to police investigations, the incident was caused by a car driver who ran into some UP supporters who were celebrating their victory at the headquarters following the announcement of the UP candidate’s victory in the recently concluded 2023 presidential election by the National Election Commission of Liberia.
The operator and purported suspect, Lawrence William, a resident of the Duport Road Flower-pot village, has been taken into custody and is being investigated at the Liberia National Police headquarters.
According to the police report, out of the 25 people, three are deceased and 22 are receiving medical attention, some of which are critical. Of the 22, six are female and the other nineteen are male patients receiving care at the JFK Hospital and Mawah Clinic in Monrovia.
It is also reported that angry citizens set the vehicle at blaze after the incident. The LNP however assureed the public of proper investigation into the matter.
