Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police has advise the public and drivers to take the following precautions to ensure everyone’s safety throughout the nation. The LNP request that any unauthorized cars equipped with emergency devices such as sirens, flashers, or high beam lights be removed.
All Right-Hand Drive vehicle owners are asked to take them off the streets, as such vehicles are not allowed to be driven in Liberia as per the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of Liberia according to LNP. The police also request that all can-boys, or non-gas station gas vendors, be removed from Monrovia’s and the nation’s principal streets throughout the country.
The LNP however note that all vehicle operators who are in the constant habit of using the opposite Lane are asked to desist. All vehicle, tri-cycle (Keke) and motorcycle owners are asked to register, insure, or update their documents.
According to the LNP, these measures are intended to provide an enabling environment that will protect life and create a safe means for the commution of motorists and pedestrians.
Following statewide consultations, the Liberia National Police will as soon as possible begin a general examination to verify that vehicles are roadworthy and that drivers are abiding by the country’s traffic and vehicle rules, according to police spokesman, H. Moses Carter, Sr.
