LRA Award ArcelorMittal Liberia As Key Driver of National Development Through Tax Contributions and Community Investment.

Monrovia, Liberia – With four awards from the Liberia income Authority (LRA), ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has again demonstrated its dedication to the country’s future by ranking among the biggest providers to government income for 2022 and 2023.

With significant tax payments that support vital public services and infrastructure, AML’s role in safely mining ore and directly promoting the nation’s growth is clearly illustrated by this accolade.

Due to Liberia’s economic difficulties, particularly with regard to mobilizing domestic resources, the government relies on corporate taxpayers like AML to help fund services that affect the lives of millions of Liberians. For a number of years, AML has proven to be a dependable source of government funding to support development initiatives, ranging from enhancing healthcare and education to constructing infrastructure that connects rural and urban areas.

Through its efforts, the firm offers a solid foundation for Liberia’s development, promoting advancement in areas that have traditionally lacked access to essential resources.

This past week, AML was honored at the LRA Taxpayers Appreciation & Awards ceremony as the “Highest Contributor Overall for 2022,” the “Second Highest Contributor Overall for 2023,” and the “Highest Custom Duty Paying Concessionaire” for both years. These honors show how committed the multinational steel giant has been to Liberia’s economy and citizens’ welfare. An obvious indication of AML’s dedication to the nation in which it conducts business is the company’s consistent tax payments.

Marcus S. Wleh, Head of Sustainability and External Relations at AML, commended the Liberian government and community for their support at the LRA awards ceremony. He remarked that AML’s efforts are made possible by the supportive atmosphere that fosters economic success, allowing the organization to aid in Liberia’s progress.

The meeting of national and business interests emphasizes how crucial public-private partnerships are to accomplishing Liberia’s development objectives, Mr. Wleh added.

“The cooperation between AML and Liberia serves as an example of how these kind of alliances may raise living conditions throughout the nation and generate shared benefit. The LRA emphasizes the critical role taxes play in financing government programs that seek to improve the lives of Liberians by naming AML as one of the country’s most conscientious business taxpayers.”

“Businesses like AML demonstrate that corporate responsibility extends beyond financial success as Liberia strives for sustainable development. ArcelorMittal Liberia is now a real partner for progress, supporting not only its growth but also the goals of the entire country, thanks to its dedication to tax compliance, social impact, and economic empowerment.”

AML understands the link between its own success and Liberia’s prosperity. The government is able to invest in sectors like infrastructure, utilities, healthcare, and education that improve Liberians’ quality of life because of the company’s financial contributions to the nation.

AML’s assistance has strengthened public utilities, improved transportation, built clinics, and expanded educational programs. These services are essential for developing a capable labor force that can propel Liberia’s economic growth.

Taxes paid by ArcelorMittal Liberia give the government steady funding for essential services, even in recessionary times, allowing advancement to continue.

Additionally, by strengthening Liberia’s infrastructure, AML’s investments improve the country’s capacity to expand economically and lessen regional inequalities. AML works in Nimba County, where better roads and dependable services are boosting local companies and opening up new economic prospects. The benefits of these advancements extend beyond AML to formerly remote villages, opening up new markets for farmers and small companies and making it easier for pupils to get to school. AML’s dedication to the long-term prosperity of Liberia is demonstrated by its involvement in infrastructure development.

The Liberia Revenue Authority’s acknowledgment of AML is indicative of the country’s gratitude for businesses who make reinvestments in the nation. AML’s activities promote Liberia’s sustainable development in addition to resource exploitation. AML gives the government money through its tax payments to solve urgent issues, fight poverty, and create a more just society. Being among the highest taxpayers in Liberia, AML serves as a model for other businesses doing business, demonstrating that business success and national development can coexist.

AML prioritizes community involvement, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability in addition to tax payments. Liberians’ lives have been improved by its collaborations with local communities, which have sponsored education, produced jobs, and supported health projects.

Because of its participation in local development projects and community activities, AML has developed a favorable reputation as a crucial partner in Liberia’s development. The business proves that a profitable operation can coexist with a commitment to the long-term growth of the communities and locations in which it operates.
