Monrovia, Liberia – James Dorbor Jallah, the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), has expressed gratitude to devoted taxpayers and encouraged businesspeople to be truthful and sincere when registering or declaring their commodities.
Commissioner General Jallah stressed that honest taxation is essential to Liberia’s attainment of sustainable development. He pointed out that honesty in tax statements will greatly close the gap between sincerity and aid in the increase of domestic income. He also advised taxpayers that making false or deceptive declarations could result in penalties and substantial financial burdens.
During a taxpayer awareness and education seminar, Commissioner General Jallah spoke. The event was coordinated by the LRA’s Taxpayer Services Division and the Concerned Liberia International Business Organization (COLINBO).
The conference, which included more than 200 local Liberian companies, provided insightful information on a range of tax-related subjects. Getting a Tax Identification Number (TIN), figuring out personal income tax, paying corporate income tax, and making sure real estate taxes were paid on time were among the important topics of conversation.
Fomba Trawally, the chairman of the COLINBO Board, thanked the LRA for its efforts to educate and increase awareness among business owners on behalf of his organization’s members. He committed COLINBO to working with the LRA to spread awareness campaigns throughout the nation, not only in Monrovia.
The “Tax Clinic,” a program of the LRA to raise tax awareness, offers a special forum for educating and informing new and established companies on tax filing requirements, payment methods, deadlines, and other crucial areas of tax compliance.
