As CG Jallah Sets Sights on 2025 Goals
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has surpassed expectations, achieving a remarkable milestone in the 2024 fiscal year by exceeding its annual domestic revenue target of USD $690 million. At a press conference at the LRA headquarters in Paynesville, LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah stated that more than USD $692 million had been collected and that an additional USD $10 million was being reconciled. This could raise the total amount to more than US$700 million.
In a statement, CG Jallah expressed great pride and thanks on behalf of the LRA Board of Directors, management, and staff, stating, “This achievement is a testament to the resilience, commitment, and collaboration of every stakeholder involved in the revenue mobilization process.” Never in its history has Liberia’s domestic tax collection reached such heights.
Speaking at a news conference held at the LRA headquarters on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the Commissioner General commended the combined efforts of important contributors for this historic achievement.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to Liberia’s taxpayers, whose cooperation and dedication have been crucial in reaching this milestone. He emphasized that their engagement and confidence in creating a greater Liberia serve as daily motivation.
He also praised the LRA’s committed staff for their professionalism, creativity, and never-ending labor, highlighting their unwavering determination to exceed ambitious targets. While development partners and civil society groups were honored for their essential contributions to bolstering LRA’s operations and processes, partner institutions and agencies were recognized for their cooperation in guaranteeing effective and transparent tax collection.
The LRA is already anticipating the possibilities and challenges that lie ahead, even as it celebrates the accomplishment of 2024. In order to significantly enhance domestic income mobilization in 2025, CG Jallah underlined the necessity of consistent work and creativity.
He emphasized the need to maintain accountability and openness in every aspect of revenue management and the need of motivating taxpayers to fulfill their responsibilities by making correct and on-time payments.
In order to streamline procedures and boost productivity, the LRA said, it will increase its use of digital technologies. To achieve even more success, it will continue to rely on improved collaborations with corporations, local authorities, and global organizations.
“Our work is far from complete. Together, we can build a Liberia that is self-reliant, prosperous, and equipped to meet the needs of its citizens.”
CG Jallah called on all Liberians to continue supporting him in order to achieve even greater success as he wrapped up the news conference. He stated that surpassing the revenue goal for 2024 demonstrates the strength of teamwork and hoped that this milestone will spur further records and ground-breaking accomplishments in 2025.
