    LRRRC repatriates over 31,991 Ivorian refugees back to Ivory Coast.

    The Authority of the Liberia Refugees Repatriation and Resettlement Commission ( LRRRC) says it has repatriated over 31,991 Ivorian refugees back to Ivory Coast.

    According to the Executive Director Rev. Festus Logan, the total Ivorian refugees in Liberia was 37,278 out of this number the entity has successfully repatriated 31,991 Ivorian refugees while the remaining 5,087 are been processed by the Liberia Immigration to be integrated into the Liberian society.

    The LRRRC Boss noted that Liberia is one of the best countries in Africa interims of handling refugees situation in Africa, he used the occasion to inform the public that as of June 30, 2022, there are no Ivorian refugees in Liberia and maintained that Liberia still has mix nationals from other countries who are seeking refuge in the country.

    Rev. Logan expressed that the LRRRC in Collaboration with the United Nations Higher Commission for Refugees ( UNHCR) has constricted additional 70 Pro-Poor housing units in the PTP Grand Gedeh County that will be used by vulnerable host community dwellers in the county.

    He expressed that the government of Liberia and the Ghanaian government are working closely to mitigate challenges that Liberians are confronted with at the Buduburan refugees camp outside the Ghanaian capital Accra.

    Rev. Logan narrated that over 1,639 Liberians who are residing at the camp in Ghana have unanimously agreed to be repatriated to Liberia amongst them are 815 women and 724 males including children.

    He lamented that there are children whose parents are deceased and they do not have contact with any extended relatives in Liberia something he described as unfortunate.

    The LRRRC boss made the accession Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing in Monrovia.
