The National Amputee Football team of Liberia has qualified to the semifinals of ongoing Tanzania’s 2021 Amputees African Nations Cup.

The one-leg Lone Star Amputee football team of Liberia qualification was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon following a hard-fought 2:1 victory over Morocco.

The Monrovia Giants striker, Matthew Joe braced in the first half was enough as the Red, White and Blue boys outnumber their North African counterparts. The victory has also qualified Liberia for the 2022 Amputees World Cup in Turkey.

According to the statistics, Matthew Joe has recorded six goals in three matches making him the leading scorer for the tournament. He scored a hat-trick against the Gambia when Liberia won 4:0 in their opening match, a goal against Cameroon in a 3:1 win, and a brace earlier on Wednesday increased his tally to six.

The young lad has been regarded as the current top goal scorer for this current generation of the Amputee Lone Star team of Liberia with ten goals in two Nations Cup competitions.

And here are the results of other matches played in the quarter-finals of the competition: Tanzania 5:0 Cameroon, Ghana 4:0 Kenya, and Angola defeated Egypt 3:2 in a post-match penalty following a 1:1 draw.

Liberia will take on hosts Tanzania in the semifinals today, December 2, 2021.
