MCC to Deploy Team to Liberia for Possible Support Soon

Monrovia, Liberia – The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Board of Directors convened on August 21, 2025, to deliberate on the outcomes of the Foreign Assistance Review. The MCC Board determined that a determination regarding Liberia’s ongoing eligibility for a second Compact would be made at the MCC regular Board meeting in December 2025.

The MCC Acting Vice President for the Department of Compact Operations, Mr. Jason Small, addressed a letter to Liberiaย Minister of Finance & Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, informing him that the MCC’s ongoing efforts to develop a Compact with Liberia will concentrate on topics that can help guide the Board’s discussions in December. “MCC will collaborate with you to determine which industries a Compact could concentrate on in order to promote Liberia’s economic development and provide chances for US business contacts and other reciprocal advantages.”

Minister Ngafuan was notified in the letter that the MCC plans to dispatch a delegation to Liberia to further these talks at a mutually agreeable time. “More information will be provided by our team.”

“We areย proud of the work that the MCC and the Liberian people accomplished together through the first MCC compact with Liberia,” Mr. Small wrote.

Minister Ngafuan responded by praising Mr. Small for the update and expressing gratitude on behalf of the Liberian government to the MCC Management and the US government for their strong support of Liberia’s development. Heย also welcomed the MCC’s decision to send a team to Liberia to collaborate with the government in identifying sectors that might be eligible for MCC assistance through a potential second Compact.
