The Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction has announced its readiness to establish itself as the kingmaker as it gets ready to certify members of its national executive committees in Monrovia next week. The new leadership is anticipated to formally introduce a plan to rename the MDR as part of the certification program since it is prepared to work to spread its message across the nation, according to information gathered by this news outlet.

As a result, the party is also putting the finishing touches on plans to buy a new building to serve as its headquarters in anticipation of the presidential and legislative elections. According to information, some of the MDR’s top officials will travel around the country to engage the public and learn more about the issues facing regional chapters.

The recently elected and inducted Senator Jeremiah Koung, Political Leader, Counselor Cooper Kruah, National Chairman, and Shadrach Shars, National Vice Chairman for Administration, are the people who will be certificated. Others include Melvin Yealue, National Secretary General, Cornelius Porte, National Vice Chairman for Operations, and Wilfred Bangura, National Vice Chairman for Governmental Affairs.

The newly inducted National Chairman, Counselor Cooper Kruah, stated during his induction at the conclusion of the second national convention that the party will be showcased to the general public and international partners during the program commemorating the certification of the officers of the national executive committee of the MDR. The party, according to Counselor Kruah, who also serves as Minister of Post and Telecommunication, is a true reflection of the aspirations of the Liberian people.

He claims that having a leadership that is broadly representative of Liberia’s society shows that the MDR is playing a crucial role in determining who holds the presidency.

The former political figure Senator Prince Johnson also remarked during the broadcast that the 1.2 million or so residents of Nimba County have the power to choose who will be president. According to him, the MDR will not support any presidential candidate as it will be putting forwarding personality to contest for the highest office in the land.

There is no official confirmation from newly elected and inducted political leader of the MDR , Senator Jeremiah Koung , whether or not he will join the presidential contest. But, it is widely belief that for anyone to win the Liberian presidency, one will have to secure more votes from Nimba County, which is the second vote rich region after Montserrado County.
